![]() | Central Station, collection Harald Falckenberg2004 Co-Authors: Laurence Dreyfus, Sophie Delpeux (historienne de l’art), entretien d’Harald Falckenberg avec Hans-Ulrich Obrist (critique d’art) Publisher: Fage & La Maison Rouge 22 x 16 cm, 160 pages ISBN: 2 84975 033 6 Price: 25 euros → Order this book "For me, collecting is an intellectual and emotional confrontation, both dream and trauma, an expansion of one's consciousness - in the end, a form of self-discovery. [...] I came to understand that the sublime and the eminent were not really my thing, that I preferred a subversive form of art practice [...]" Harald Falkenberg. In little more than ten years, Harald Falkenberg has built up a collection of nearly 4000 works of contemporary art. They are housed in a private museum located in a 6000 square-metre industrial complex outside Hamburg. "civil disobedience", or individual resistance, is the guiding thread in his choice of works, some of which are monumental, and most of which are provocative and engaged. Central Station at La Maison Rouge features almost 200 works from this constantly evolving ensemble, which has something of both the archive and the laboratory. Like its namesake, Grand Central Station, this exhibition is a space of exchange and chance encounter, but it is also, in the flux, in the network of information and forms orchestrated by Harald Falkenberg, a pause. A stopping point.
